Android Phones Cast “Harry Potter” Spells

Android Phones Cast “Harry Potter” Spells

If you have always wanted to be a wizard and cast spells like Harry Potter, Google and Android have just brought you one step closer. Android announced on November 1, 2016 in their blog, that you can now use OK Google (their voice activated assistant) to cast three different spells in honor of J.K Rowling’s new movie “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”. Let’s take a look and see what spells they have provided us!

First up is: Lumos

just say “Ok Google” followed by Lumos
To cast this spell just say “Ok Google” followed by “Lumos”. This command will turn on your phone’s flashlight.

Second up is: Nox

To turn off your phone’s flashlight go ahead and say “Ok Google” followed by “Nox”. Your flashlight will turn off.

And last but certainly not least we have Silencio.

When you say “Ok Google” followed by “Silencio” your phone’s notifications and ringer will be turned to silent.
Another added bonus for you Android users is being able to take a peek into the magical world of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”. When you use your Google Street View you will get a glimpse of New York City in 1926 (the time period the film takes place). You can also visit four new sites including: MACUSA (Magical Congress of the USA), Steen National Bank, The Bling Pig which is underground speakeasy, and the apartment of Tina and Queenie Goldstein (two important characters from the film).

Along with the being able to “cast” spells and being able to catch a glimpse of the new film in Google Street View you can also help Newt catch his escaped beasts with the all new Daydream View virtual reality headset. Using the Daydream View reality headset (which is available in November), you can wave your magic wand to explore Newt’s case, look in the treasure trove full of everything he needs to cast spells, find missing beasts, and solve puzzles.

Harry Potter has taken over the world since it was first published back in 1997. Many fans have been waiting for the day they could cast their own spells. Looks like now that Android and Google have made that possible, they might be taking over the world as well!

P.S. If you have the messaging app Google Allo, you will soon be able to download the exclusive “Fantastic Beasts” sticker pack!
